Bloomsburg Lacrosse Falls to Nationally Ranked Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team fell to sixth-ranked Lock Haven 21-10 on Thursday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The loss was the second straight for the Huskies against nationally ranked opponents.
The Lady Eagles started their scoring early. Less than a minute and a half into the contest, Lock Haven built a 2-0 lead. The Huskies battled back to tie the score 2-2 with two goals in the 26th minute, the first from senior Meg Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) and the second from Cara McGroarty (Pottstown/Pottsgrove).
Lock Haven scored the next four goals before Taylor once again found the net to cut the lead to 6-3 with 15 minutes to play in the half. Two minutes later, Bloomsburg's Mary Chirichella (Petersburg, NJ/Ocean City) scored to bring the Lock Haven lead down to two goals at 6-4. However, the Lady Eagles scored six straight goals to close out the first half with a 12-4 advantage.
The Huskies' Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) scored unassisted to open up the second half and narrow the Lock Haven lead to 12-5. After three goals from the Lady Eagles that brought their lead back to 15-5, Bloomsburg scored four straight to make it a 15-9 game with 10 minutes to play. McGroarty netted her second of the contest, followed by goals from Alex Totino (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Sachem), Erica Nevin (Haddon Heights, NJ/Camden Catholic) and Brittany Wilkins (Barto/Boyertown).
Bloomsburg would get no closer as Lock Haven scored six goals to the Huskies' one over the final ten minutes of play.
Lock Haven's (13-2, 10-2 PSAC) Leigh Titus led all scorers with 9 points off of seven goals and two assists. In goal for the Lady Eagles, Melissa Seesz picked up the win saving eight shots.
For Bloomsburg, Taylor finished with three goals while Chirichella added three points off of a goal and two assists. Bridget Maenner (Philadelphia/Little Flower) saved 11 playing 44 minutes in goal for the Huskies.
With the loss, Bloomsburg falls to 7-7, 7-5 in the PSAC. The Huskies will return home on Thursday to take on Shippensburg in a 4:00 p.m. game at Sports Stadium.
